Angelo Outlaw

Hello there! I’m an interactive designer and front-end developer with a unique blend of creative sensibility and technical ability. After designing for print in my early career, I transitioned into the digital realm and have pushed pixels and code ever since. This winding path has given me an eclectic and wide-ranging set of skills. Also, yes, that really is my last name!

Verimatrix Home Page Animations

Verimatrix is constantly pushing the boundaries within the video security industry. So why not push the boundaries with the website? I was privileged to design the interaction of the home page animations and work with a development team to make them reality.

These animations were created using Adobe After Effects to create canvas animations that were then added to a custom Drupal 7 theme.

Taking this idea further, we later added a randomization script that gives people a different experience each time they visit.

AIGA San Diego's Y Conference 21 Website

Each year, AIGA San Diego holds one of the most respected design conferences in the southwest region of the US. The theme and visual of the conference change each time, and this gives designers and developers a chance to ask...why!

The theme for Y21 was Distill, and the team took this as an opportunity to apply that thought to the shapes we used. Wireframes were built in Sketch and the final site was built using Webflow with some custom code added afterword.

Takeaway: Quality mockups that take breakpoints into consideration make building a site almost easy! Almost.

Look Book for CSA Travel Protection

I created a look book that honored the parent company's brand guidelines while providing in-house and contract designers with a basic set of rules and resources that still helped CSA stand out in a crowded industry.

This look book was hand coded using Sublime and the Bootstrap framework.

Takeaway: What began as a small internal project quickly became a source of truth for the entire company. You never know what will blow up into something big!

Good Earth Plants Website

Good Earth Plants needed a complete reboot of their website after a hack left them with a broken CMS. One of their primary goals with the new site was the ability to self-publish regular articles to their blog.

After working together to create their content strategy, I installed Wordpress using a customized theme and trained them how to use it.

Takeaway: Being able to self-publish their content has allowed Good Earth to stay current and relevant in ways their competitors have not.

Get a Quote Landing Page

As CSA Travel Protection began the process of a site overhaul, they needed a landing page specifically tailored for mobile devices. This humble landing page would eventually be the inspiration for the newly redesigned website.

This landing page was built using Sublime and Bootstrap, and initial wireframes were built using Sketch.

Takeaway: It might seem basic at the time, but you never know where iteration will take a project down the road.
